  • Oscail an doras don tailleir fhidhleir

Oscail an doras don fhidhleir tailleir

Oscail an doras don tailleir fhidhleir

    Firrinneri fhidhleir tailleir

inbetween that is some simple lilting / gaelic-scat singing

    Translation:

Open the door for the fiddling tailor

Open the door for the tailoring fiddler

Open the door for the fiddling tailor

The King's son-in-law is the tailoring fiddler.

  • "Oscail on doras" is one of my favorite songs from the show! It's soooo good!

  • @CAchico89 Mine too. Such a beautiful melody and the energy !!! And for a love song, "Lift the Wings."

  • is it jean butler

  • Yes, they are playing with just their hands. I believe that it is called the "Roscommon style" of bodhrán playing. It is used when you want a very base, but softer sound on the goat-skin. There are many ways to play the bodhrán. :o)

  • It does appear is if they are using their hands and no tippers / beaters.

  • (sorry, click post accidentaly,)

..I think all the lyrics are corect except for: fhidhleir. It may be nheidfna (you may want to check my spelling, I haven't had a gaelic class in about 3 years, I'm trying to remember it all, it's such a beautiful language,

  • I this is correct, my gaelic has been a little rusty since the drama of 3rd grade, coming into a class of kids listening to rap and hip-hop, and then when you go to a talent show and sing a song in perfect "gay-lick" they all laugh at you. So any way, I tihnk all the lyric are right, except for

  • Are the bodhran players just using their hands? Because I cannot see the tippers / beaters! So either their playing that fast, which I doubt, or their playing with just their hands.

And I think you are missing some parts of it. I have, for some reason, I have a copy of this song in a perfect quality with out the dancing, just and mp3 or the vocals and bodhran, and it's about 3 minutes and 25 seconds long. So either I have a diffrent version, or I'm going insane! Hell love the song anyway!

  • Does someone know the lyrics from this song? I´ve got the notes, but now I need the lyrics.
