It's the whole favorite son thing; the father treats one son as good as gold and better, while neglecting or just outright abusing the other for not being as good as the better son. :(

I don't understand: is this story just fanfiction, or is it "official"? Because I've never heard of it before.

There's an 'official' backstory for Scar that DIsney released, but it's a popular storyline for fanfic writers since the actual story is, well, kinda weak. My vid is an amalgamation of several different fan speculations.

I heard Lion King was copied from a Japanese cartoon, and now I am almost positive it's true. "Taka" "Tanabi" ? How much more Japanese can you possibly get? Maybe if ya'd put hiro or something at the end, make it Takahiro. Why haven't the creators of that White Lion cartoon sued yet?

"Taka" is swahili for "dirt" or "trash", and Tanabi is the name of a city in Brazil (that name/connection has nothing to do with his character, but I'm just saying it's not a Japanese-exclusive word).
The creators of 'Kimba The White Lion' haven't sued Disney because the two properties (while artistically similar in a few aspects) are completely different and they've been in collaboration with Disney for decades.
Now the animated Titanic movie, THAT'S worthy of a lawsuit. *lol*
