  • The reason that the deadlift records don't really go as high as squat and bench has almost nothing do with equipment. Start with light weight and use the same weight for each. Like 350lbs. And you tell me what's harder to do hold on to it like deadlift, hold it up like bench or put it on your back like squat. Holding that weight off the ground is much harder for deadlift because all that's holding it up is your grip.

  • @samandquinn Mendy can't squat or dl anyways, the guy can barely walk because he was in a car accident and severed his left ankle.

  • Jesus christ the woman at 45 seconds must have gone on a roids only diet

  • This documentary definitely raises great points about the Squat.

In most Special Olympics Powerlifting competitions, highest Deadlift and Bench Press scores are from lifters involved in Squat, Bench Press, and Deadlift events.

In fact, the top Deadlifters in Special Olympics World Games Powerlifting history, John "Jackie" Barrett from Canada and PG Griffin from USA, are both strong triple combination lifters.

Lessons learned, three-lift lifters are indeed strong overall lifters.

  • Goes both ways Mendy, they cant bench your weight, but you couldnt squat or dead theres. They have higher totals, they are stronger than you. Thats the bottom line.

  • What was the bottom line again?

  • @SplinterCellFugitive Well I'm just talking about strictly raw here. A raw full depth squat will always be lower than a raw deadlift, unless your arms are so short that your deadlift starting position is lower than your parallel squat, which I'm sure is a really small minority of people. Of course with geared lifts where they hardly even go that low, squat will be higher than deadlift.

  • @amounirl that is true, although bodytype does play a difference. Dave Hoff has the 2nd highest total at 2910 and he squats 1165 and deadlifts 800, but ed coan could deadlift 900 raw. Westside has the best equipment for building the deadlift but Dave is not the biggest deadlifter there, but he does excell in squat and bench. Arnold also deadlifted 698 raw being a bodybuilder. yet his squat was a measly 478. some of it is equipment and some is genetics.

  • @SplinterCellFugitive The reason why there's less 1000 lb deadlifts is because they haven't been able to invent equipment that can boost the deadlift that much. You have to look at raw numbers, the raw deadlift record, something in the 900s (Konstantin Konstantinovs does 939 I think), is much higher than the raw bench record of 715.

  • @dresendezz Ever tried mixed grip or straps? Because they make having weak hands no excuse. I have strong long legs and weak medium length arms/hands, and my deadlift is higher than my squat because I've used mixed grip to overcome it. Even if I couldn't grip it mixed I'd still use straps.
