  • I was really surprised when I realized that there wasn't a single Boris Christoff's rendition of Don Basilio on YouTube. So I had to make it right. :)

  • Гордея се като българка с величествения глас на незабравимия Борис Христов. Той е безценен Божи дар. Мир на праха му!

  • SUBLIME!!!!

  • Thanks for the info. I didn't know that.

  • @platinump90 - Christoff doesn't forget a line--that's how it's originally written. It's become traditional to insert an extra "Si va crepar" in the coda, but he does it the way Rossini wrote it. I have recordings of other bassos doing it the same way, including Cesare Siepi!

  • what about Christoff´s Gluck? where is Gyaurov in that case and many others... agree, there is apersonal taste involved, but some is absolute, time is the judge

  • Ghiaurov is also bulgarian (as i am)...having heard both of them many times,

Christoff is as presance and powerfull, yet soft clear voice i find by far the best....

    well it's a matter of taste....thanks

  • Well, To name some: Nicolai ghiaurov (I like is la calunnia the most :p..), samuel ramey, alexander kipnis these are the great ones that pop my in my head.:) (and offcourse also boris christoff ;))

for more baroque repertoire you also have peter kooy..

  • thanks for your coment...please let me know

of other bassos that are better or on the level of Boris Christoff....i will love to hear somethings from them that you like...

that is so good on this site that one can find with others help many things!
