NANAIMO - The Island Veterinary Hospital in Nanaimo is currently providing tender, love and care for a two-year old Wirehaired Pointer.

The dog known as Molly, arrived on Saturday following an incident on Gabriola Island.

Molly is the hospital's top priority and is being attended to several times a day.

Veterinarian Brent Crutchfield says Molly is lucky to be alive, after her owner tied her to the back of his pick up truck and dragged her for 500 yards.

The owner's name can not be released as an investigation into how Molly's injuries occurred is still on going.

The day after the incident the owner surrendered Molly over to the SPCA in Nanaimo.

The SPCA says Molly will remain in hospital for at least another ten days, following her release they will be looking for a permanent home for her.

Doctor Crutchfield says whoever is the next owner of Molly might be is being advised she will need lots of care.

Molly suffered from extensive road rashes which essential turned into burns all over her body.

Molly will need surgery in the future, but what she really needs will be tender, love and care as she deserves it.
