Katie Shaughnessy speaking at the Relay for Life event in Lake Forest, California on October 3, 2009 during the Luminaria Ceremony. Ms. Shaughnessy is an ovarian cancer survivor and suffers with the genetic disorder Cowden Syndrome. Here she talks about her life and its challenges and the ways in which she finds the good in it all.
Hi Katie. Pretty sure we've spoken before. I had ovarian cancer at age 9 and found out I had Cowden's at 30---my kiddos are 6 and (pretty much) 8. You did a very good job with this speech. I'm glad to see this on youtube.

Thank you. This speaker is inspirational and informative. My son also has a PTEN gene mutation.
