Cool I have always wanted to know what it looked like inside ..thanks for this footage.
Recently saw this shown on "an idiot abroad" where he had to stay in one on the caves that surround it .

It's actually the Treasury. The outside of it was used for Indiana Jones, but a new and different inside was constructed for the movie. It looks nothing like the real inside of the building.

LOL, too bad, it would sure make the adventure complete I'm sure. So what's actually inside the temple? I've been told it was a 5th C monastery..

Yes it's the actual temple. Pretty awesome to see it in person, sadly there was no immortal knight inside!

The rock is not too hard...its sandstone...easy to shape

It should still be opened to visitors.I don't think things have changed so much in a few months.When I was there new kinda rooms had been found recently beneath the entrance.Anyway,it's truly impressive.

When i went in 2006, they would not let people in the rooms. It was guarded and blocked. Wish i could have gone in.
