He plays the saxophone like its an electric guitar and it´s damn nice to hear!

What bad motherfucker. Talk about Tone, could knock over a blockade of republicans. What else can you say....

@Saxydude05 That's why Dexter is one of the most interesting musicians in jazz history. He was the bridge between Lester Young/Coleman Hawkins and Coltrane/Rollins.
Both Coltrane and Rollins learned from Dexter, then they started pushing the envelope. Instead of getting left behind, Dexter jumped on board, learned from the young guys, and continued to progress, like Saxydude said.
There's just no finer musician than Dexter. He's one of the greats, but gets overlooked for some reason.

@2fromcenter for incineration of the front row, try dubstep.

"incinerates the front row" - indeed

@zbalder14 lol @ the idea of "better chops." At this level there's no "better," only "different." Plus, if you trace the stylist evolution of both Dexter and Trane you'll see that their playing influenced each other at various points throughout their careers. Trane was listening to Dex, then Trane started evolving the music and Dex was digging on Trane. Listen to their respective recordings of "Body & Soul" and you'll hear it, too.

What a great classic. Plus, he talks exactly like Deacon Palmer from King of Queens.
