This is a showcase for Spector's Wall of Sound. He wanted to produce symphonies for kids. I love this version - but I also love Deep Purple's. That guy's voice was so sexy. What more romance could you ask for?

This is the original version, produced by Phil Spector, who also wrote the song. The instrumentation that you all love was produced by a "layering" of instruments...and this also served a purpose, because it could overpower the "hum" that AM radio had back then. It does give you the chills!

@dfres100 It gives me goosebumps. This is the definitive version of the song, despite being covered by many artists including Diana Ross, Celine Dion, Harry Nilsson and many others.
