Never, EVER, EVER! Install a EMD sound chip in a GE locomotive! EVER!
-
Just a future heads up. GE P42DCs us a GE FDL-16, not an EMD 645/710.

Do you know if the engine sound will work if I did not have DCC?

what decoder is this?
-
@dkslfjgh atlas is in the same class as bachmann (SUCK)

p32ac-dm uses a GE 7fdl-12
p40dc uses a GE 7fdl-12
p42dc uses a GE 7fdl-16
Pl42-ac uses an EMD
Is that correct.

@Shedface1 Actually, they do notch up and you can hear it, but idle around notch 3 for the HEP
-
Not only is the prime mover incorrect but the MRC system cannot replicate the HEP sounds that these locomotives generate. I challenge you to find me a video of an AMD 103 that "notches" because they don't. Those locos run at Notch 8 all the time due to their need to generate the electricity for the entire train. To date the Quantum Revolution from QSI solutions is the ONLY sound decoder that will do this. Also I imagine that decoder has probably burned up by now; yes?

May i suggest that you install this decoder in a SD40-2? I believe that you got your decoders crossed. It does sound good however.
How much did this cost and where did you get it?
