  • @SvendBosanvovski, Colic, coupled with the fact that I really believe that age has finally taken a step or two away from Sacred Kingdom, also. Because you're absolutely right. He's not the same horse these days that once dominated the Hong Kong Sprint and the Krysflyer.

  • @GBeret83 Overdose is clearly a very good sprinter. In 2008 the IFHA ranked him 5th best sprinter in the world at 120, that was equal to J J The Jet Plane back then and where Hay List was placed in the current, March ratings. That is as high as Overdose ever got. We can, however, expect Hay List to rate higher folloing his last two runs. Sadly, Scared Kingdom is not the horse that got to 123 in 2008. The serious bout of colic appears to have blunted his brilliance.

  • @SvendBosanvovski, And what's really scary is how easily Black Caviar dispatched Hay List. You don't have to convince me that both Black Caviar and Hay List are world class sprinters. As is the afore mentioned by you, Starspangledbanner and Rocket Man. But I'm just not convinced that Overdose is much more than hype? if he's really as good as his record suggest? Why do connections continue to race nobody's in Hungary and Germany? I'll be glad to see Overdose at Ascot. I think he'll get exposed.

  • @GBeret83 We get a further measure of just how good Black Caviar is from Hay Lists's emphatic win in the group 1 All Aged Stakes yesterday. He is clearly a world class sprinter, the equal of A Starspangledbanner and Rocket Man, but in the T J Smith she gave him a big start at the top of the straight, caught him at the leger and raced away to win by about 3 len. South Africa also truns out some very fast horses. I see a SA bred beat Scacred Kingdom at Sha Tin about 10 days ago.

  • @SvendBosanvovski, Whole heartedly agree with your assessment of Overdose. The one field he's faced with any substance at all recently, he was well beaten by the likes of Amico Fritz, an average sprinter, and Guilt Edge Girl, who won the Abbaye only because ground suited that day. Overdose isn't anywhere near the league of Starspangledbanner, Rocket Man, or the Australian wonder mare, Black Caviar. JMO.

  • @MrNativeDancer. Match races are not always the fairest way to settle the score. They look spectacular, but will usually disadvantage one of the runners. Great stakes races, with the very best competing are a measure of greatness. You are entitled to be proud of Overdose, and I wasn't bagging him. I just hope he gets to show us what he is really capable of. His highest official rating has been 130, behind Silent Witness, Sacred Kingdom. Starspangledbanner, Choisir, and Oasis Dream.

  • @SvendBosanvovski I would LOVE to see Overdose have raced in two horse match races against the horses you mention. That would be totally awesome! On a level playing field on equal terms etc. I think I know who would win though! haha

Its funny Overdose was born just ten miles from where I live and I have never seen him race here yet!

  • @MrNativeDancer The winner, Amico Fritz finished last of 15 in in the Prix Maurice de Gheest in its previous start and fifth behind Starspangledbanner in the Golden Jubilee Stakes at Royal Ascot. Overdose will prove to be very good when it reaches its peak, but has a way to go to capture the title of world's best turf sprinter, currently shared by Sacred Kingdom and Starspangledbanner. The latter beat the best US turf sprinter, Kingsdale King, twice in the UK.

  • @richard56511 Totally agree with you there! he would of won at the Breeders Cup.

I think though his defeat on his 15th start, maybe the race came to soon after his come back from injury win? Definately some thing wrong with him prior to the race. Such a shame he maybe wasnt handled a bit better?
