L.N. Clérambault (1676 - 1749) was a prominent French composer and organist. He served several churches in Paris, including St. Sulpice, where he succeeded Nivers. The works heard here (a live performance) are the last four sections of the Suite du Deuxieme Ton from the Livre d"Orgue, dedicated to his teacher André Raison. Basse de Trompette, Flutes, Recit de Nazard, Caprice sur les Grands Jeux. It is a privilege to play this famous organ, enhanced by a glorious acoustic. The slides illustrate the organ as well as selected scenes from coastal Maine.

The recording is from a recital played by Dr. Becker August 24, 2006, part of the Summer Organ Concerts sponsored by the St. John's Organ Society. The spacious acoustic of St. John's Church in Bangor, Maine and the tonal magnificence of the historic E. and G. G. Hook Organ, opus#288 (1860) are aptly suited to this music.

The organ is described in detail at http://www.hookopus288.org/
