The P&H propel system is used to position the shovel to optimize digging geometry with the bank, to reposition the shovel as it digs in the bank, and to relocate the shovel in the mine. Depending on the individual mine, a shovel's propel systems is active approximately 4% to 7% of the time the shovel is operating.

  • I'm a big P&H fan, but this is an area where your machines are sadly lacking....slow and underpowered.

  • Don't get me wrong, your shovels are by far, the best out there. I probably shouldn't go into specifics on a public forum, so I won't. The only real issue the operators ever seem to have with them, is that they need more travel power and speed. This seems to be a general characteristic of the machines, not an isolated issue. I'll send an e-mail to explain futher, but please keep building the best shovels in the world.
