In the immortal words of John Lennon."Immitation is the highest form of flattery".

This version of Catch The Sun always plays in Party City, where I work. I didn't know it was a cover until I looked it up. I love both versions, but I like this one just a liiiiittle bit more.

@papovavirus EXACTLY. this is melancholic bull shit. This guy sings like he's never even stubbed his toe, or felt any sort of emotional response to anything. music for the medicated masses...

he took the piss right out of the Doves, I hate this cover, they play it in CVS stores for christ's sake. I hope Jez and Andy are making a pretty penny off this at least.

I hear this song at like every fast food restaurant I go to, after a while it just stuck. It's not bad at all though

@TheElliesaurus Or they are grinches...:)

I appreciate JC bringing this song to another audience. His rendition was certainly competent and his vocals were particularly well performed if the piano melody was a little too light spirited. That said, this version doesn't hold a candle to the Doves original.

@TheElliesaurus I guess that was bc he sat on the piano ...I'm just sayinn

Well, he's surely really good... but this version lacks the pathos and "suffering" of the original by Doves... that's my opinion, at least... awesome track, tho'

Happy Birthday Jamie Cullum (August 20)
He did a really good job of this, I especially love the bass line on the piano.
