McGuire's Landing Martin OM-18V

This is one of my all time favorite guitar tunes. McGuire's Landing was written by Pete Huttlinger. I first heard it on a CD that came with FIngerstyle Guitar magazine and I remember thinking, "That is a great tune". It was this song the introduced me to the guitar work of Pete Huttlinger and I have heard him play it live on a number of occasions since then. It is a very unique and beautiful tune. I'm getting closer to having this one where I want it.

If you want an interesting comparison, check out the version I posted in May of 2008. I think you'll hear how the tune has smoothed out and how the changes and licks are becoming more concise. I'm also figuring out where certain notes have to sustain. I don't play it exactly like Pete does, but I'm liking how this version is coming together.

I don't think they are availble online, Pete has a book called The Pete Huttlinger Collection" and it's also available on his DVD "Solo Acoustic Guitar Vol. 2". Both are great, you can't go wrong with either one.

I went back and looked and it doesn't appear to be in Fingerstyle Guitar Magazine (it was an additonal tune on one of their CD's that came with the magazine. I can think of two places to get the tab/music. Pete Huttlinger sells a book called "The Pete Huttlinger Collection Vol. 1" and it's also on his DVD "Solo Acoustic Guitar Vol. 2".  Either is an excellent source and well worth the money.

wonderful playing! Thanks for posting this! I was curious, do you know what issue of fingerstyle guitar had that piece?  I would like to learn it myself. I used to avoid songs that were tuned for DADGAD but recently I learned a great Bensusan tune in one of the recent issues and I would like to learn more songs in this tuning.
