Tough Eclipse decision. Speightstown won the Eclipse, even though Pico Central beat him late in the year, in this race. Pico Central won the gr.1 Met Mile, gr.1 Vosburgh, gr.1 Carter, and gr.2 San Carlos. Speightstown won gr.2 Churchill Cap, gr.2 True North, and gr.2 Vanderbilt. But after this race, Speightstown won the gr.1 Breeders Cup Sprint while Pico missed the race. Pico ran again in the gr.1 Cigar Mile, but he ran 3rd.
