http://www.MicrochipCatFlaps.co.uk/ The PetPorte Micro Chip Cat Flap is designed especially for chipped cats. It reads your cats pre-existing RFID implant (the one put in by the vet, Cats Protection or the RSPCA for example). If your cat has not already been chipped we recommend the Bayer Tracer or Identichip chips because they work best with PetPorte Micro Chip Cat Flaps. For more details call free 0800 092 4880.

  • As I said earlier, the points i've made are just my own personal observations on why I didn't purchase your product. It looks and sounds great, but i really don't like the idea of plugging it in and the rather large sensor. By no means do I want to get in to an argument with you. I'm sure lots of people LOVE your cat flaps...Constructive criticism comes to mind.... :-)

  • @W34R341810N The Pet Porte Smart Flap can run on a 9 volt battery and the porch protrudes in order to read the cat's microchip before your cat hits the door. That's a clear advantage over any cheap immitation.

  • SureFlap: (old - new model) £60.00 - £75.00 Amazon

    Petporte: (old - new model) £60.00 - £85.00 Amazon

SO.... I don't see where 'the cheap copy made in China' statement about the SureFlap comes from - not alot of price difference and all the reviews say its AS good IF not better than the Petporte.

ALSO... can you 100% state that your product is not made in China or somewhere in the world of 'cheap manufacturing'.

    :-)

  • @W34R341810N The new Pet Porte Smart Flap is £97 from Microchip Cat Flaps Ltd. It is made in Guernsey, in the British Channel Islands. It was invented by a vet named David Chamberlain who patented the product in 1996. Any other microchip cat flap is an unauthorised copy. Don't accept cheap immitations!!

  • This video is about the previous version of the Pet Porte. The latest version is called the Pet Porte Smart Flap. It has some improved features like draught proofing and an improved locking mechanism that is even more secure to prevent other cats clawing the door open towards them to get in.

  • I really like the idea of this BUT 2 things have put me of buying this product.......

1: The 'umbrella' type chip scanner that has to be attached in order for the flap to work. Really do not like the look of it 'sticking out' from the back of my door.

2: Mains operated! how can you honestly expect people to 'plug' a cat flap in to the wall - it would be so much better if we had to install more batteries on a regular occasion than having it plugged in.

Both of the above are just my opinions

  • @W34R341810N The porch sticks out to read the cats microchip that is implanted in the neck. Many cat owners like the idea of the cat flap unlocking instantly before their cat has to push the door. But that said the Pet Porte Smart Flap has a hybrid power system. You can run it on mains power, a 9 volt battery, or AC power with battery as backup.

  • Are pet microchips internationally standard? I live in Australia and have 2 cats which have been microchipped here, so if I buy a cat flap from the UK, will that work?

  • @W34R341810N SureFlap is a cheap copy made in China. It isn't mains powered. It's battery only. The Pet Porte Smart Flap is the original and best microchip cat flap. The "umbrella" as you call it is the scanner that is positioned so it reads the cats microchip that is implanted in the neck area. That way it's more reliable. Also the Pet Porte Smart Flap has the night sensor so it can automatically lock at night and unlock in the morning!

  • I have purchased a rival product called the 'SureFlap' - the only reason i did this is down to the two points that i've made in my earlier comment, no 'umbrella' and it IS mains operated - I hope it's as good as all the reviews i've been reading.

Really good idea, just needs some tweaking. :-)
