The Outsider magazine crew recently took off for a trip to the Midlands and Shannon region and found some unexpected adrenalin kicks. Anyone for wakeboarding or barefoot waterskiing with Watermark Ski Club on Lough Derg...zorbing or river tubing with the Outdoor Discovery Adventure Centre in Ballymahon, Co Longford...horse riding on the grounds of Kinnitty Castle...or a lovely hike in the Slieve Bloom Mountains? If so you're in for a treat! Two great places to stay are Kinnitty Castle or Ardmore Country House, Kinnity.

  • Dam! Ireland has it going on, way more so than here in Ontario. I'm spending this Bank Holiday weekend in cottage country, with my head on a swivel looking out for Bears.

  • The midlands was never on my holiday wish list before but is pretty close to the top now, never knew there was so much to do in the area, it looks like great craic!

  • nice little video - whats the name of the board free surfing on the boats wake?
