Ultimate Weapon

Ultimate Weapon always fly off after he uses the following 3 attacks: Quake2, Claw Attack, Ultima Beam.

To be able to survive Ultima Beam I had to give Cid Elemental=HP Plus (Ultima Beam is one of the rare attacks with the Hidden Element that can be reduced by pairing Elemental with non Elemental materias like HP Plus, Ultima etc...).

The hard part here is to steal the Curse Ring, I have a max of 3 attempts and my chance to steal it is very low (1/32 chance).

So stealing a Curse Ring from him causes him to use Ultima Beam and fly off?

No. He ALWAYS uses the same 3 moves (Quake, Claw Attack, Ultima Beam) before he flies off. We just need the Curse Ring for all the Bosses after him ^_^. However what might not be so obvious is how I manage to survive Ultima Beam, it's by pairing Elemental with a non Elemental materia (HP Plus in this case) to cut the damage in half :)

I read about Ultima-Elemental in GarlandG's FAQ, but I didn't realize it worked for other non-elementals as well. Interesting...
