South Pole Diary: Station Tour

An excerpt from the feature-length documentary "Living in the Shadow of the Moon-Dog: A South Pole Diary" by Paul C. Daniels and Michael Pfaendtner.

In early 2001, just days before Paul C. Daniels left Detroit to spend nine months locked into the most remote and isolated outpost on the face of the planet, he bought a Sony Handy-Cam recorder to keep a video diary of his experience.

He captured the winterover lives of 50 people at the U.S. Antarctic research station "South Pole", located on the highest, driest, coldest continent on earth.

Through equipment failures, conflict, fierce storms, -100F temperatures, hypoxia, and the unexpected illness of the station's doctor, the crew could rely on no one but each other to survive.

umm ? why is amercian flag spammed on south pole ! when we all know the south pole explorers were british and norwegian

If you check out my "Moon-Dog Movie Trailer" you will see all of the flags at the south Pole. Our Flag is at the pole because we are the only ones that actually live at the pole and have done so Continuously since the 50s

@Dying2k1ll True, diesel less harmful than gasoline. My post wasn't very explanatory, though. I meant it must be near impossible to get a diesel engine to fire at, say, minus 50F actual temp. Years ago we had minus 10F actual temp here in SE Pennsylvania, about as cold as it ever gets around here. An excavator friend didn't work that day cause they couldn't get any equipment started. But then again with proper block & battery heaters, I guess you could fire 'em up @ [-50F].

Soon that will the North Pole---let us know with that Astronomy station when Niburu passes///2012? I had the money I would have CEDAR Shed double insulated with 10 tons of OAK and one GOOD Fisher Stove like I have right now 16 degrees and warm as toast!
