1969 AMX 2 DOOR HARDTOP - THE AMX FROM AMC

First introduced in 1968 as a quasi pony car/ sports car, the AMX was one of many offerings from AMC this year making AMC dealers very happy indeed to have so many niche offerings. Other models from AMC was the rebel, Rebel SST, Javelin, Ambassador, and Ambassador DPL and SST. A car for every class and market segment. The AMX body was basically a loped off Javelin sharing some sheetmetal, parts and engines. Paint colors offered were brght and garish as in " Big Bad " orange, green, and blue. The powerplants for the AMX are the V8 290 cid, 225 hp., V8 343 cid, 280 hp., and the V8 390 cid, 315 hp. These engines were also used in the Javelin, Rebel, and Ambassador SST. But the AMX with it's 3,000 lb. weight out-rivaled many other muscle cars. And that, was the idea. Stuff the 390 into this light weight machine and watch it beat the competition. @jimbzh56 No, sorry man. This AMX is in a special car dealership and they don't want anyone touching their inventory, unless of course you're interested in buying. Didn't realize that wheels are not original or the steering wheel. Sometimes rare cars like this are cobbled together for presentation purposes and to gain a higher $ amount. Perhaps the headers were missing and couldn't find replacements. But anyway, thanks for your comments and viewing.

30 000 $ is too much because you don't have original wheels and strearing wheel... You also don't have headers.

@cheddyrod I agree. Again, racing stripes add so much and I always liked those flush door handles. Like the Javelin the styling cues are still fresh and that includes that fabulous design of the dash.

Those red racing stripes really set off a great design.. AMC had some nice styling touches like flush door handles and their dash boards were always one of the best.
