A drive around Lomé's Boulevard Circular just before it's redevelopment.

St. Valentine's Day, 2011.

If you know places and leave a comment and time point, I'll add the notes.

  • I was a Peace Corps Volunteer, in Togo, West Africa,1979~81. Lived in Sokode and taught at Le Lycee Technique for 2 years. I have many many memories of Lome: hidden corners, back alleys, eating goat's head soup, dispair and love,I was incommoded by the heat. Your video sucks: A tourist on a holiday driving around the capital thinking that they know Togo.

I arrived here in 1983, I am still here and my children grew up here, so forgive me if I think that you wallowing in your two years here and then passing on a gratuitous insult makes you anything other than a - nope will stop there.

The point of the video is that it was taken to allow friends, and others, to remember how the trip around Lomé's Boulevard Circular was. I took the photographs just as it was being ripped up and completely redeveloped.

  • So why the theme song the Exorcist?!?!?

  • @EscapeNewJersey

Tubular bells: so many good memories for me, and of course, admiration for Mike Oldfield laying it down one track at a time.

Perhaps not the best choice, but certainly nothing to do with the Exocist.

  • Send me a note on fb. Once I get a few comments in, I'll redo it. I wasn't exactly sure of the date of the Amina fire...

  • Having been to Lomé four times in the last ten years I would definately agree that there have been some much needed improvements in the city. Hard to grasp viewing a video but I am happy for the people there that things have improved. Much more to come I hope.

  • Great Video, Haven't Seen My Lome since 2005...I miss Lome so much. Good thing they changing the infrasctures. post more video of Lome pls
