Connie performs this Italian pop song on live TV in 1964. A couple of years before this appearance, she had landed a number-one hit in Italy with this song - and created quite a stir in the music industry because the song had never been recorded by a woman before. Connie had special new lyrics written for what was truly a man's song. It was enormously popular overseas. The song is featured on her 1963 album, "Mala Femmena and Connie's Big Hits From Italy." • I realize time goes by and other things become relevant....but when one hears about Madonna, Streisand even and their international status....i always say: And Connie you fools? The first truly global American singer!! Marlene doesn't count in this instance because she was a movie star that later invented a second career for herself. But Connie was a singer to start with and her international fame was legendary.

    Very true!

Connie was the greatest of them all! And I'm telling that from the view (and lots of auditions, over 200 Connie's songs!) of a ROCK FAN! I mean, Metallica, Rammstein and Judas Priest!

  • @auroralight40 Hello, Aurora! I am so happy that you like this - and that Connie means so much to you. "Mama" is indeed a lovely song. I am very sorry that you lost your mother. God bless you, Ken

  • Jack should see this, oh he would love it :)
