A special holler to my Aussie friends and fellow Vegemite-lovers!

And by SPECIAL REQUEST, here's how I play THE VEGEMITE SONG!

We're [E] happy little vegemites
as [A] bright as bright can be...
we [B] all enjoy our vegemite for
[E] breakfast lunch or tea...

Our [E] mummies say we're growing stronger
[A] Each and every day because we
[E] Love our vege[B]mite we all
en[E]joy our vege[B]mite it puts a
[B]Rose on ev'ry [E] cheek!

A note on some other keys to try: instead of E, A, and B you might try D, G, and A, (in exactly the same places as E, A, and B are in the above version) or try the same thing with G, C, and D or A, D, and E if the chords are easier to play or if it's easier to sing the song in one of these keys.

And remember kids...when you change keys on the guitar the melody you sing has to go up or down too or you won't know WHAT you're playing!

Cheers!

Matt

  • Look, man, I see the style you're going for here, but seriously; shirts have been in style for quite some time now.

The leather vest/shirtless combo makes you look like some kind of creepy leather daddy or something.

  • My grubby-grey wifebeater was at the cleaners! ;-) Hey, it's just schtick, man...no worries!

    Thanks for watching!

  • Tanks heaps :)

  • The chords are up in the description box now!

    Enjoy!

This reminds me...I'm OUT of Vegemite! :-(

  • Thanks!

I don't think I play it EXACTLY like the original since this was more of a country/blues take-off BUT that said, it's a simple 3-chord I IV V progression in whatever key you wanna play it in.

In this case I played it in E so the chords would be E, A, and B. I'll put the way I played it in the description box though, but remember you can use the I IV and V chords in any key that is more convenient for playing or singing.

  • Hey Nicely done Redneck, I was wondering if you were able to post the chords and or tabs for the song, I've been searching everywhere and cant find it. Thanks
