To celebrate the completion of the community workshops and One Planets' first birthday, the Civic Centre in Oswaldtwistle hosted a big party. The event was really well attended, and there was a lot of cake!
On the evening guests were able to watch a One Planet drama performance, the premiere screening of the 'Making it local' film, find out about the community workshops, see the crafts, felt banner and the One Planet cookbook for the first time, as well meeting all the artists in involved.
The One Planet shop in Accrington was awarded £5,000 funding from the Big Lottery Fund to commission local artists and community workers to deliver workshops with local children and adults to involve them in creative activities which promote the core ethics of a 'One Planet community'.
The One Planet shop is a community benefit co-operative in Accrington which sells a wide range of organic, Fairtrade and local products. It is located at 54 Abbey Street, Accrington, BB5 1EE. One Planet is based on six defining principles: local, ethical, sustainable, fairtrade, natural wellbeing and innovative.
