For the first time on camera, Ziggy artist, Tom Wilson demonstrates drawing Ziggy in fast-motion animation, and talks about his new book, "Zig-zagging: Loving Madly, Losing Badly How Ziggy Saved My Life."

Get a behind-the-comic-strip look at the drama and the trauma that Ziggy fans and readers never knew about as it was happening.

Tom's new book, surprisingly, is not really about Ziggy, but rather about the artist himself. After losing his wife to breast cancer, Tom was left to raise two children alone and keep the laughs coming in his cartoons worldwide—even as his own personal orbit is falling apart.

In an ironic twist of art imitating life, Ziggy's own quest for answers helped his real-life artist beat a crippling depression and find answers for himself. Find out how Ziggy literally saved at least one man's life.

  • I remember this as a kid on the San Francisco Chronicle comic's section in the mid1970s.

  • Mr. Wilson:

Thank you for Ziggy, your marvellous cartoon character.

    P.S: Courage.

  • I READ THE BOOK...a must read. You will laugh, cry and say ooowee. Even in the midst of a storm It will leave you feeling encouraged.

Beware: There are many golden nuggets in this book that will make a mark on your life that cannot be erased.

    Thanks, Tom and Ziggy

  • I LOVE ZIGGY! I grew up with him and think he is infectiously lovable. How FUN to see the artist drawing him. I also saw Tom Wilson on the 700 Club this morning getting interviewed about his book. He's so multi-talented!
