BourbonBlog.com presents The Temptations honoring Muhammad Ali on his birthday by singing "Happy Birthday" and "My Girl" at the Kentucky Bluegrass Ball during Presidential Inauguration 2009 in Washington, DC. For more, visit BourbonBlog.com.
Dennis is the most unrecognised singer in the whole world.records show he gave the Tempts 5 Grammys! from Cloud9,psychadelic shack, whitfield records(over 10 hits) Power,Standing on Shakey ground...I love his humility.
Hall of Fame legend Dennis Edwards' legacy speaks for it's self. He was the dominating lead singer during a prominent era in Motown History. He entered an already established group and took them to Hall of Fame status. Yes the leads were shared, but it's Dennis' powerful and agressive voice that took them over the top. When you see The Temptations Review featuring Dennis Edwards in concert, they recreate the Classic hits "My Girl -"Papa Was A Rolling Stone" live on stage in traditional style.
@yosefbenyosef When Dennis came he was the essential lead but the others had a part in the Whitfield arrangements but these could not be considered leads. More of a way to introduce each voice within the song but Dennis was the lead. I am not familiar with the developments of the group after the originals left only Otis.
The thing about the Temptations is that everyone of them could lead any of their songs. However on the recordings the classic leads were David Ruffin and Eddie Kendricks. Otis never led on any of the hits and Paul led once on "Dont Look Back" but the point is that Melvin Franklin could lead as well as Otis if needed.
Not exactly, most of the songs with Dennis have the Temptations sharing leads. They all took turns on those songs. He didnt sing lead by himself. When he joined they started sharing leads on all the hits
