What is Natto? Well, this video will certainly educate you if you've never seen it before! We forgot to mention that Natto is actually Fermented Soybeans with a bacteria known as Bacillis subtilus, which I personally like to translate to "Subtle Bacteria? I think the hell not!"

  • what did you think natto was? they sell natto, the same kind of natto that you've shown here on the vid, here in the US. i am so curious what you thought it was before you arrived in japan.

  • @Jojeeh soooo I was a total noob about it and I got Natto confused with a Korean bean appetizer that is just kidney beans dipped in a sweet sauce....totally not the same. lol.

  • Interesting. I didn't know that! Thanks for the comment. Here in Tokyo I have seen quite a few people eating it so I assumed it was rather widespread.

  • @ladylaurajones ah gotcha. :) i used to hate natto but now i can't get enough of it. you should give it another try.

  • Actually most of the western Japanese people, esp Osaka, HATE natto.

If you go Osaka and open a pack of natto then people would literally run away from it.
