First of all I reject the notion that people will be going to hell if they don't every read the bible in their native language. Next of all I think there should be more focus on ACCURACY of translation and less on the marketability of the printed material. Sadly, most modern translations of the Bible are so mangled they legally qualify as fiction and the publishers subtly admit it when they claim a copyright.

Very effective! There are multiple uses for this within Wycliffe. Thanks.

@gsschoenfeld: ...part3...additionally, Wycliffe's goal is to create a first translation, not a final one, per se. That's what language does, it changes over time, etc. Just like our English language is always changing and developing, as my mother tongue isn't 16th century olde English. It's a process. The vid states "50M will perish over...20yrs...w/out ever hearing the Word of God in their own language" is a true statement & does not mean ALL those are going to Hell. #EndBiblePoverty

@eddiefye Thanks for your kind response. Please reconsider using the term "perish", because when that term is used in a church setting it often has the implication of eternal judgement, hell, etc. I can also appreciate that Wycliffe intends to create a first translation which will require later revisions. However, I'll point out those in professional ministry don't give that kind of "wiggle-room" to a Wycliffe translation. They often claim it is 100% accurate, which of course is silly.

@gsschoenfeld duly noted, & a good point to be sure. As long as we keep pressing on with our King as the central focus, my hope is that the Spirit will do the 'rest'. All praises to Him and may our 'intentions' or 'agenda' always be about His Glory. Thx for the dialogue! (:

@gsschoenfeld: ...part2... I LOVE the fact that an org like Wycliffe, desires to stick around LONG after a translation is completed. Full well knowing there are/will be the need for tweaks, etc. I'm NOT a KJV-only guy. I think we sometimes make the Word an idol above our relationship with our King. Every tribe, tongue, & nation & until all hear = these things I believe fully, & I believe I am commanded to do. Thx for posting g!

@gsschoenfeld: Thx for the comment! It shows you care. Do you want to talk about this? Your addition reveals you either have some personal experience or intimate knowledge--or both--re: BT work. I, too, reject said notion--after all, there are many who have believed sans the bible in their heart language. Accuracy? I agree. Easy for us to be picky--we have The Word in our tongue. Many orgs admit to having made severe errors in the past, but this doesn't lessen the NEED for those bibleless.
