  • Disgraceful. Johnny logan should leave irish traditional music alone and go back to not winning the eurovision song contest. Best version of this song is Christy moore's version from his 1964-2004 6 disc box set. Just Christy and his acoustic Guitar, but he gives it more life and fills it with more of the genuine beautiful irish tongue than any other version i've heard.

  • @MackDaddiSRK

Yes, it is definitely not one of the best versions, but it's quite catchy anyway. Though, in my opinion I would without a doubt go for Ronnie Drew's version, and The Clancy Brothers second; they are singing it quite well too.

  • though this is the best version :D

  • I can't agree on that. It's a good cover by Logan but The Dubliners are still the ones in my opinion who're performing the song best.

  • nicely put, i second that

  • yes, I guess Logan's version of The Irish Rover is good when thinking about the Irish spirit(^^), but Ronnie Drew's version I'd say is still better. Thus, what do you think about The Clancy Brothers? I have listened to a few of their song, but I haven't decided wheter I prefer them over other Irish singers/bands.
