  • Decades before, really? I can imagine that they knew that, but for the sake of argument included it in the show. I wonder what that says about the 'we can say everything now'-conclusion of the fragment.

  • Pete was so pathetic in season 1. He's grown since, but he looks terrible pitching the psychologist's research that Don rejected.

  • Mad Men is the greatest advertising campaign for Lucky Strike in the last 50 years. Great show though.

  • @C03LH0 if you are going to do a "time specific" movie or TV show ,especially if it is within the memory of millions of people still alive it should be accurate. I was a Lucky Strike smoker and I caught the historic gaff immediately. It would have been easy to just look up what ad campaign The American Tobacco Company was using back then..even I knew that without even looking it up...It was "Lucky's separate the men from the boys..but not from the girls" i can still hear the jungle in my head

  • @inkey2 Take "Gladiator", for example. There really was an roman emperor named Marcus Aurelius in History, as there was his son, Commodus, who also became a roman emperor.

In the movie, Commodus killed Aurelius, although that is not what is written in History books.

Are you going to sue "Gladiator" 's producers now? Or are you going to realize that it is fiction, for the sake of entertainment?

  • @inkey2 it is fiction, for god sake. if you have a problem with that in a series you should say the same thing about almost every movie / tv show ever created that blends History and fiction.

  • Fictional TV programs revise history for story all the time. Haven't you ever heard the saying, "Don't let the truth get in the way of a story"?

It's an idea. Its a story. Facts and metrics are for suits. Don't get too hung up on the minutiae or you'll miss the point!

  • In 1917, Lucky Strikes slogan, "It's toasted, " to provide information on how tobacco is produced. That same year, the message "LSMFT" ("Lucky Strike means fine tobacco") was introduced on cigarette packets

  • @inkey2

    I getcha. =P
