  • I'm a shin gi tai Kempo apprentice, I already saw the techniques that were shown although we have a sort of more elaborate versions. there's a lot more punching involved :D

What belt /kyu /duan are you?

  • @VuileTeef currently 2nd dan (Nidan), and was 1st dan when this was filmed

  • any form of fighting is useful for selfdefense. Still i am sure that usually instructors don't want the techniques to be taught outside the class, because we all know there are people who would rather use these techniques to inflict harm rather than as defense mechanisms (these are meant for victims)

  • absolutely. Not to mention it's bad for the senseis and instructors who need to make a living teaching these techniques, but 1 or 2 techniques online isnt that bad, considering these particular techniques can only be used in a self defense situation :)

  • good technique

  • thank you

  • The techniques are ideal, obviously, but, in the least, this video demonstrates EXCELLENT angle control. That's definitely something to take away from the art.

  • a lot of people think kenpo is strict limited movements but it's not u can take bits of different techniques and use them for example you could use the block and kick from delayed sword but then just punch him in the face

  • A very nice and simple technique, i like the control aspect and it puts your opponent in a great finishing position. Kenpo teaches you to defend against any and all attacks as random and maybe unorthodox as they may seem.

  • sweet i like. in ninpo that throw is called ganseki nage ( boulder throw) great stuff

  • allowing your aggressor or opponent in close to you, is the total advantage of what kenpo's many choices are to disable and reverse attackers wish!.

  • @skateprince101 It's actually common in street fighting for attackers who don't have any training. We are taught many different ways to defend against many different types of attacks, shoulder grabs are just a fraction of the attacks we defend from. This is just one of the 600+ techniques we are taught (not including variations of the technique).

So, "come on, be serious" and consider not every attacker is going to be predictable, not every attacker are going to be experienced.

  • come on, be serious..... how many people are gonna grab your shoulder to inflict harm upon you...... show me how to deflect a punch or something rather than this (>_<)
