  • @wilfredtak Nitrogen is for the steel stay "clean", without burning signals

  • @littlestworkshop I haven't really wanted to cut up my table top yet so I don't really know. It took about 1 second to burn through and I'm pretty sure the wattage was about 80 - 90. i also don't have Oxygen so I can't really try it out on some plate. Wish I could.

  • @baccus61 My 50W laser is actually putting out around 80W so it may be the same for your 100W? What is the cut quality like when cutting 0.6mm?

  • @littlestworkshop My 100 watt laser goes straight through my 0.6mm stainless steel top without oxygen. I reckon if I put oxygen assist gas on it it would probably be able to cut about 1.5mm material.

  • at my work we use nitrogen for (stainless) steel...for nicer cuts (Trumpf Lasers)

  • @twerpbasher Air assist is used to blow cut material through the cut (for cutting plastics), to reduce the chance of fire and it also keeps the lens clean. As air contains oxygen it would not reduce oxidization as far as I can see. Oxygen is used when cutting steel with a CO2 lasers however this laser could probably only cut thin foils even with oxygen.

  • @thadude1337

Oxygen would not make any sense, the main point of providing air would be to reduce oxidation! Oxidation leaves ugly cuts, or no cut in materials which have oxides with higher melting points.

  • @irfanullakr Yes, it blows all the burnt material and smoke out of the way

  • @irfanullakr it could be any number of things, oxygen is one of them but i have no idea what that laser is using

  • what is the tube supplying - air???
