there is no scriptures in the bible that say we can have instruments! thanks for posting this! I wish other "churches" would realize that we do not have authorization to use any other instruments but our voices! (:

4 all Tha non Church of Christ ppl: does tha bible SPECIFICALLY tell u wut time to wake up in the morning to go to work?? No.. Didn think so. Bt yet u still do it. Jus cuz tha bible doesn say to do it doesn mean u cnt Bt.! It specifically says makin psalms hymns n spiritual songs. SINGINIG [(notice the word singing.. Look it up there are no instruments in tht definition)] and making melody in ur heart to tha Lord. Im 15yrs old n surely if I knw tht singing means w/ ur mouth surely u should too.

i love singing with or without instruments...... i have read all the post about wether or not to use instruments. I dont think arguing about is what the lord would want. There is alot about the bible that none of use understand, but i know one thing, that GOD wants us to worship him in spirit and in truth. If you chose not to use instruments then fine, if you chose to use them then fine.....GOD just wants use to praise him..............

@swill00 Where does Jesus say not to "take away from the gospel?" I think you're slapping a reference to Revelation into the mix, and John meant specifically by "the book" as being his Revelation. There was no such thing as the Bible when he recorded what he saw in Revelation. If any reference to another historical document, it would have been the Old Testament. Jesus IS the gospel-the gospel is Christ. You can't add to it or take away from it because it is Jesus. Not a book, or the church.

@swill00 Where do we have have authorization for "church buildings"... Where are we authorized to sing in four part harmony? And specifically concerning Paul's letter to the church at Ephesus, this example was of how they should improve their action toward one another... they had an issue with lots of things, including drinking too much in that community and running off at the mouth. What of the other churches that didn't read this letter in early New Testament Christianity before the Bible?
