This is the trailer for a Winthrop High School student-made music video to The Decemberists album "The Hazards of Love" which never reached completion. The project was an attempt to create a live action version of the album and was concieved and begun before "The Wanting Comes in Waves" (The official video for the album) was announced. It is the hope of those who participated in the project that The Decemberists will produce a live action version of the album themselves to complement such an amazing composition of music.

I do not own the rights to the music. All credit for the music goes to The Decemberists. As such the full length version of any of the songs will not be uploaded by Rambler Productions or its affiliates.

If you would like to buy the album, you can do so here and support The Decemberists!

  • FUN !

DID you finish it yet ?

  • @MrPisces2000 No, it was a high school thing and now I and all my actors are in college/military/etc. so I can't finish. It was about 5/8ths of the way done I'd say though. I'm in film school right now (this was my high school's Youtube account) and I plan to try again someday.

  • I'm not gonna lie; it looks very high-school made. Then again, I wish my high school had crazy Decemberists obsessed teachers so we could do stuff like this. I want the Ds to put this on as a full stage performance, like an opera as someone already said. Then again all the ambiguities in plot (especially at the end) would lose that magic of personal interpretation.

  • @misswoopa Well, as long as it doesn't look like it was made by 13 year olds I'm happy enough. I've learned more about how NOT to make a film than anything else. Still, I'm glad that I made the effort. As for ambiguity, I suppose that's why they made the "visualizer" which didn't satisfy me in the least.

  • This looks really promising! I hope you get official recognition, because I'd LOVE to be able to see the completed piece.

  • Thanks! I'll give it my best shot! if you'd like to keep up with the latest news regarding the project, you can join the Facebook group

    What a shame..

I'm a freshman in High School, and I was just thinking about how perfect this would be to make a musical out of.. Despite being generally against musicals, I thought about attempting a persuation on the school's drama teacher.

Still a shame you never finished it. Would've been awesome..

  • @misswoopa Good idea.

  • Guys... do you know what the story of the Hazards of Love is specifically? William and Margaret bonk each other in the second song, again two songs later, the villian is a rapist, the Queen is an overzealous mommy-bitch-on second thought this'll be awesome.

  • Want to see it. :)

  • Thank you, I conceived the project before the official video was announced but I agree they are totally different. I hope I can do the album justice. Thanks for your interest!
