Ronnie Drew at his 'rebel' best! He doesn't just sing the song - he feels, expresses and means every word. Irreplaceable talent! (P.S. an' I'm a Brit!)

I love this song but "taken by force" as i've heard said is not "stolen". It is WON.

Just what ever was so great about Britain running around the world enslaving and exploiting the poorer people with less technology and military hardware. Furthermore, we well know that the kingdom was united by force making it a union without unity. The whole business has always been preposterous this putting the word Great or United in the name of your country when you are neither.

The merry ploughboy in Rathfarnham, a proud area of dublin that opposed the British, the home of Padraig Pearse.

Ronnie, Luke and Ciaran are up there in the clouds singing away.
God rest ye, and we will be up there sometime to see ye in a great concert.
