If you spin a raw egg and then stop it, it will start spinning again without you having to touch it. A boiled egg, on the other hand, stops and stays stopped. Why is this? Well a raw egg contains a yolk that moves inside the egg independently of the shell. If you stop the shell, the yolk inside continues to move due to its inertia and it therefore gets the egg spinning again.

  • Vsauce entrance?

  • @Tamarrack No, I've never seen an egg lay a chicken, but I also have never seen a chicken that wasn't hatched from an egg.

  • @ghrpdx The chicken, have you ever seen an egg lay a chicken?

  • @ghrpdx The egg probably came first because of evolution. Evolution works by mutation and the mutation must have happened in the egg, thus the egg came first.

  • It's rotational Inertia isn't it??

It's a similar concept but 2 different formulaes?

  • @ghrpdx the chicken, because the egg couldn't survive without a chicken to nurture it

  • @ghrpdx probably the chicken. because evolution, chickens first were microscopic lifeforms but because of evolution, the chicken has changed very tiny parts of itself when some "misformed chickens" were born. out of those chickens you get an even more changed chicken and so on, untill we have a chicken.

  • @ghrpdx The Dinosaur.

  • @CakesnakeFilms its an egg.
