This explains very good what we still do on Odyssey Simulators for Arts and Performance. I believe that Second Life is a great tool and media for art production and I believe that art always has to do with real life. Virtual life is a big part of real society in western world that even becomes more important. So I think there is a big and very interesting working field for artists.

Feeling good doesn't mean that you understand what you're doing. People know that internet gives them joy, and they choose it, even though it will hurt them. They hurt themselves by alienating themselves from the social norms that define them from the birth. They become independent but also meaningless in the society. The society of the internet is a formless group of interestless people who just what feels good.

It's because people understand the difference that the internet becomes so tempting not because people don't understand.

A pretty fantastic look into second life,
for someone whos been interested in understanding the game (phenomenon?).

so true.
Yeah, but its fantasy. Most people on the internet don't understand the difference between real life and internet. It feels right and is what they want but there exists no social norms which make us within the real society. As a result we and Internet is consequenceless and limitless fantasy unless we become there who we are in real life. Forget anonymousm.

I've never been on second life, but I love the idea of the internet being this place where you're completely anonymous and can get away from real life. The freedom of speech is amazing; people say on the internet things that they wouldn't dare otherwise and anonymity is a big part of that. There are some crazy sites out there with crazy messages, but I love that they are able to say them regardless, whether I agree or not. It's a pity, because there are too many new regulations on the internet.
