YES!!! You are reading this correctly. This is a 1986 General Motors built Classic still in active service in the year 2011!!! This bus is one of three in active service that feature Detroit Diesel 6v71 Engines and Allison V731 Transmission.
@MetroLinerXLZ - to operate the rear doors. Once the driver has activated the rear door, you push that gate and the door will open for you. On your way out, hold the gate open to keep door open until you are clear of the doors.
Everything about this bus just reminds me of the GMC quality that I miss so much...the takeoff, the axle sound effects, and the "gruntorque" you hear as the bus goes through the gears just bring this bus together.
And I like the modified gear ratios on the tranny! Reminds me of a D.C. Metro 8700.
