Here is a Lawn-boy that was given to me by a friend. It sat in his barn for 10-15 years. I cleaned the carb and replaced (2) gaskets and it started right up. Try and buy something today that will do that!
Looks like the one I started mowing with. The only problem with them was when you were done mowing the grass you smelled like you just got off a two stroke motorcycle or snowmobile.
I have one of these mowers. Mine is a model 5100 I think. Mine is all brown and runs/cuts like a new one. Great little machines. Mine has a C series Iron Horse on it.
sounds like the idle is set pretty high or is that normal?

That's funny, I have said something similar after riding my CR-250! I smell just like after I cut the grass!

I have one just like it and I'm pretty sure it's a 2 hp motor.
I also have a 1.85 hp "C-18" (with an external flywheel and no recoil) and a more powerful "C" engine in a 1962 21" mower.

@toshman3
The C-12 engine produced 1.5 hp and was notoriously reliable.

I dad's 46 yo Toro, with a Briggs & Stratton 3.5hp, still runs every time you need it.
And his 45 yo "Sears Best" saber saw and orbital sander, still work perfectly, as does my mother's 1951 Sunbeam "Mix Master".
Things were built to last, in those days.
