Dedicado a mbb... The Peruvian poet, singer and songwriter, "Chabuka Granda" wrote this beautiful song, an anthem to the city of Lima, "La Flor de la Canela" (Cinnamon Flower). The poem & lyrics involve a beautiful woman who enraptures a gentleman passerby while crossing a local bridge. This rendition by Francisco Cespedes with Gonzalo Rubalcaba on piano, from the cd, "Con El Permiso de Bola" ( tribute to Bola de Nieve, Cuba). This video is made in appreciation of the music, the artists, and it is for educational purposes. No copyright infringement is intended.

The montage contains photography by Jorge AR w/ images of the cities of Milaflores,Santa Eulalia, Cusco, Barranco, Plaza de Arnas, Hauraz, Cajamarca, Chancay, etc. Some of the artwork is by Jose Royo and Joaquin Sorolla. Thank you, enjoy...

  • @alchada Hi, Al, I'm glad you enjoyed the song, it's a classic we play on the program. To translate would be difficult verbatim but it's a poem written in admiration of a woman... "let me tell you, people of Lima, about the very beautiful woman who crosses the river bridge near the mall (tree lined road)... with jasmine flowers in her dark hair, roses in her cheeks ("rosas en la cara"...or blush) etc... he can't forget her.
