  • Well said. Why all the hate? I love traditional G&S too, but I also love this. I'd say this version is more enjoyable if you are familiar with the traditional music and have seen a few versions of it (like me). But the bottom line is: If people don't like this version, dont watch it. But dont spoil it for the rest of us either!

  • Couldn't agree more!

  • Where is the background music for this?! Can anyone tell me where to find it?!

  • I think that Liberty University [in Lynchburg Virginia] did a MUCH better job at this scene.

  • @vonnycav Yes you did. The company that did this also did The Mikado, featuring the Fabulous Singlettes and the 3 Little Maids. That song features a bit of this one at the beginning, and they enter the stage in exactly the same manner, with parasols spinning. Oh those cheeky Aussies :)

  • Lol love the daughters in this show. The Major General must be a very...musical...man...

  • @danielledanashamon

you have to see this with the rest of the show it fits perfectly

  • @rossmcl177 Yeah, and not all of it is comedy and to be honest, I couldn't watch the whole play if there wasn't a little funniness (if tis a word) as I would eventually loose some interest. Anyway, this gives it some character!

  • Just because you play around with the original version doesn't mean the original version doesn't exist anymore, or is forever damaged.

  • I like this version, although I stll prefer the Opera Australia version with David Hobson - I think it takes off opera better, which is what G&S were really trying to do.

  • Did I hear some of "Three Little Maids From School" from The Mikado at the start there?

  • @shauninfl28 - thanks for your note. You can actually find the entirety of Barrington's book - along with Jesse Bond's book and Grossmith's book on the wonderful G & S website at Boise State. I tried to put the link up here but it wouldn't let me - but you can find it in a search. All the best...
