All of Giacomo Meyerbeer's operas had their American debut at the French Opera House on Bourbon Street. At one point in the 19th century New Orleans boasted 3 opera houses to New York's one and European singers who performed at the French Opera House said it had better acoustics than any opera house in Europe.

I saw Bon Operatit! perform with other members of the New Orleans Opera Association last Wednesday and they were phenomenal -- lots of fun!

The schedule of Bon Operatit!'s performances at the Inn on Bourbon and more about Bon Operatit! can be found on the group's website if anybody is interested. Shameless plug -- I know. Just type "Bon Operatit" in google since YouTube won't let me type the web address in my comment.
