Game: X-Men - Children of the Atom
Played on: 2DFighter ( http://2dfighter.com/ )
Date: Friday, Aug 1, 2008
Player 1: Jedah's Ministry (Battousai)
P1 Character: Sentinel
Player 2: 192.168.0.1 (Stafos)
P2 Character: Silver Samurai

Description:
This was a quick match video I put together to test some video capturing software. Batts is one of the best players around and one of the only players around at the same time. I, am a nub, which equals a hard match. Samurai, being a character with absolutely no low attacks and mediocre range, always has uphill battles. To spite this, Samurai versus Sentinel, while an overwhelmingly hard match, is my favorite matchup out of the entire cast. Batts is an offensive machine (pun intended), which makes it even more fun.

These were not the best matches in the set of games we had played together, nor were they the worst. I will say that neither of us were the most aware, or playing our absolute best, however.

Well, at any rate... They always did say that Battousai was the strongest of all in ruro-ken, so I guess the result I got was to be expected.

  • Good match. The only char i could ever hope to keep up with batt's sent was Omega red heh.

  • Yeah... I know the feeling. To spite my best efforts, I couldn't even keep up and really deal with the ranged game on Samu. The only time I can really beat Batt's Sent (or, avoid being beaten by it as badly, shall we say...), is with another Sent.

We've got to play again sometime. :p

  • Well, upon viewing it, I notice a few parts are a bit jerky. I guess it isn't perfect!

    About the match-up:

Sentinel and Samurai both are users of long ranged pokes and low priority projectiles. Sentinel's flying drones and missile as well as Samurai's throwing star are examples of these. Many normal moves, or any other projectile will "destroy" these types of attacks. This is the basis of both character's long range game.

As another note, I really fail at jump attack projectile breaking.

  • Xmen sentinal

  • @OrganOwner yeah i guess

  • @TheWesT89 Well naturally. Sentinel's main fuel is tears and sweat made from people who've played against him. The more you bitch about him the stronger he gets.

  • wow sam never stood a chance

  • if sentinel could guard and fly in the other games, he would be hella OP

  • @SDSOverfiend

Well to be fair, MvC2 did get a simplified control scheme (losing Medium p and k IIRC), taking away space for some moves (though they did have the option of directional normals for some of them).

  • @metaXzero That plus The Fan Blades on the jumping roundhouse. People forget his medium punch he shot rockets out of his wrist you can hold lol!! Capcom stripped plenty of characters of their fluidness for gods nows what. Thats why i always called them Crapcom.

  • @SDSOverfiend

I'm still bummed how in MvC3 while they fixed up his animations (obviously was coming) all they gave him back from this game was the command grab.

Wanted to literally body scrubs with that body splash man.

  • @SHlNOBl3

He still wasn't the best in this game. And he can't be the best in MvC2 after all he lost in the MvC2-MvC3 transition AND the HP nerf

  • @metaXzero Yeah.. He was the man in this game. In MVC2 it was sad how they stripped him of all his animation and various attacks.
