  • HA!!

Dorothy: You didn't say where you were from.

    Quinn: No, I didn't.

Dorothy: Well, would you be willing too?

    Quinn: No, would not.

    Hilariously litte exchange!!!

  • When he became Hawaii's first state Governor, William Quinn eventually appeared as a guest panelist. That appears on YouTube in Mahalia Jackson mystery guest clip.

A week after Hawaii's statehood, on the same broadcast featuring mystery guest Rick Nelson, Hawaii's first US senator Orin Long appeared as a contestant.

"Are you associated with an island near San Francisco?" Bennett asked, then disqualified himself.

Arlene mumbled, "Well, the only island I know by San Francisco is Alcatraz." LOL

  • @observer9670 just over a year from this appearance on august 21,1959,

  • Governor Quinn would actually become their first official governor once Hawaii actually became a state. He would serve until being defeated in a close election in 1962. He ran for the U.S. Senate in 1976, but was unsuccessful. He would later be president of the Dole Pineapple Company and chairman of the Honolulu Symphony. He died in 2006 at the age of 87.

  • And a few years after Hawaii became the 50th state, a future President was born there.

  • @shoredude2 Maybe Hawaii had home rule as a territory, while Alaska was under federal jurisdiction.

  • i love dorothy!

  • IDK, John seemed pretty eager to see the ladies (or at least one of them) in grass skirts. It's always strange yet amusing when Dorothy makes playful comments.

"I'm still working on tangentle!" (tangential) lol

  • Dorothy: "See tomorrow's kinescope, John." Vintage!

  • Did the producers tell them to force the sexual angle wherever they could? I mean, a lot of the occupations could stray into that area, but here the guy seemed to go straight to "what about touching HERP DERP"

  • When the governor of then-territory of Alaska was on, and was asked if he worked for the federal government the answer was an questionable yes. I wonder why the change between Alaska and Hawaii.

  • @blablomma Things said backstage at WML were turning up in Dorothy's column. See: Bennett Cerf: Oral History Notable New Yorkers Part 3 on U-Tube
