Skin cancer can absolutely kill you. How is tanning worth it? Even if not for melanoma, you look like a leather belt by the time you're in your 40's.

How many times do you have to use a tanning bed before the risk goes to 75%? I regret ever using one..It wasn't working, so I tried two or three times over a couple weeks .I ended up burned in one spot, still white in all others, I'm very fair. I said forget it, and never went back. My closest uncle passed away from melanoma, he fought for two years. Nothing worked. It kept returning, until there was no more they could remove. Tanning is just not worth it, its not.

If you tan in a tanning bed, you have a 75% increased chance of developing malignant melanoma, not 2/10th of 1%. I work at a dermatologist and see melanoma...frequently and even in young women. If you think you know so much, sit in a MOH's surgeon's office for a day...then talk "truths"!

Let's talk about 'truths'...your risk of developing melanoma is two-tenths of 1%, by using a sunbed in a professional tanning salon your risk goes up to three-tenths of 1%...that's the 'absolute' risk. By only telling you the increased risk without showing you what it increases from and to is irresponsible and inflammatory. The CCS should be ashamed of themselves for misleading the public with this archaic approach to UV exposure. Moderation & education....not fear mongering & misinformation.

This is so lame, this isn't even funny, you need some better people in your thinktanks!!!

The link between indoor tanning devices and melanoma is not only supported by the International Agency for Research on Cancer, which considered research papers published in prestigious peer-reviewed journals, but also numerous international, national, and provincial organizations. We hope this video increases awareness of the dangers of tanning.

Thanks for your comment. It is important to remember that research done by the International Agency for Research on Cancer shows that being exposed to UV radiation from indoor tanning equipment before the age of 35 increases your risk of melanoma.
