Biodiesel Lawn Mowers: The Air Pollution Solution visit http://www.Keyboard-Culture-Global-Warming.com for more from Global Warming Expert Corbett Kroehler and other topics, solutions and experts at http://www.keyboard-culture.com.

Keyboard Culture is a blog community of enlightened leaders helping people make decisions, solve problems, create and live from Love and Light in the highest good for all.

Pollution from lawn mowers and lawn care equipment is a big problem. Tailpipe emissions from cars have been regulated in one form or another for decades. Not so with lawn care equipment.

In fact, until just a few years ago, the patchwork of small engine pollution regulations which has sprung up around the United States did not exist.

Each weekend 54 million people mow their lawns burning 800,000,000 gallons of gasoline a year. Operating a lawn mower one hour could create the same pollution levels as driving a new car 340 miles. A single gasoline lawn mower could create more pollution than 73 new cars.

The Environmental Protection Agency tells us that 5% of our nation's pollution comes from lawn care equipment. In a single day in Los Angeles, air pollution from lawn equipment exceeds total emissions from all planes in the city's airspace.

What is the air pollution solution?

Find out in this online movie "Biodiesel Lawn Mowers: The Air Pollution Solution."

"Who is Corbett Kroehler?"

In 2003 I became a Chairman of Energy Issues for the Sierra Club of Central Florida. I represented the Sierra Club of Central Florida at the Solar World Congress in 2005 and the International Solar Cities Congress. I was elected chairman of the Sierra Club of Central Florida and served in that role throughout 2006.

After much reasoning and strategic analysis, I came to the conclusion that the best hope for halting the advance of rising seas lies in the Congress of the United States. As I continue to work to raise awareness of the threats and opportunities global warming poses to Florida and the entire world, I am also a candidate in Florida's eighth congressional district.

Sustainable Justice For All!

  • Well, that was pretty pointless. I question the stats used, how does one go about measuring how much fuel is spilled? And they didn't show jack on diesel mowers other than a company name. If fuel stations don't have bio, where do you expect people to purchase the stuff from? Is using a food crop for fuel a wise idea?

  • Dittos. What brought up red flags for me were "Sierra Club", "Global Warming Expert", and "Environmental Protection Agency".

Didn't take me long to figure out where this vid was heading.

  • This isn't a solution. It is a thinly veiled commercial for key board culture and a guy selling lawn mowers. The content is idiotic.

The idea that everyone should go out and buy a lawnmower that runs on peanut oil is laughable. This wont help the environment one bit. This video is a little short on science and commonsense.

  • I said it was a step. I am just making sure it is known that this is not the or a solution because there is no one solution to environmental problems.

  • We have to do something and moving towards sustainable mindsets and habits is moving in the right direction. Technology is enhancing quickly so moving away from fossil fuels to other alternative energies which we know about and have yet to discover is really a great idea. Keep up the good work Corbett.

  • Did you see the statistics in this movie? Every step towards sustainability is a good step. Each person can make a difference and a group of people can create a social movement which can be the solution. I'm thankful for Corbett for helping get solutions out into the world.

  • This isn't a solution, it is a step, a very small step.

  • There is not enough recoverable cooking oil to make any difference. Rainforests are being cut down and food crops diverted to make bio fuels. This all about feel good and get tax breaks or subsidies.

  • Electric mowers have many virtues. I use one on my lawn. However, there are many applications for which an electric mower is impractical. The best alternative in such a situation is to avoid fossil fuels and help solve a waste problem.

  • This is Just Idiotic. Use electric lawnmowers. Bio fuels do more harm than good. Think about it- Cut down forests - clear land and plant food to be turned into fuel - also by food that poor people would have eaten and then ask gov for subsidy - turn food into fuel and burn in dirty lawnmower.
