The Record Reverser is Top Quality Rock & Roll...'s totally sweet adapter that allows you to play records backwards -perfectly- on must pro turntables. Invented by mike d... (Mike Dereniewski) in 2005, The Record Reverser was a labor of love that spent nearly five years in the developmental stages, as the design was obsessively fine-tuned.

Having been the host of Skrockin' Yer Butow... at Dearborn/Detroit's 89.3 WHFR.FM at Henry Ford Community College in Dearborn, Michigan for the past 15 years, mike d... was exposed to many tricks of trade known by college DJs, including a method of reconfiguring a turntable to allow it play records backwards. The method did work, however, it was quite clumsy - you had to eyeball it to try and center the record on the turntable, and a heavy object such as an empty coffee cup was needed to hold the record down.

Knowing that there must be a better way, mike d... started working on a preliminary design in 1999. Through trial and error, the final design was realized in early 2005. Using discarded albums that were destined for the dumpster and a variety of other materials, mike d... started making Record Reversers at home and by the fall of 2005, offered them to several independent shops such as Stormy Records (Dearborn, MI), Aquarius Records (San Francisco, CA), Quimby's Bookstore & Reckless Records (Chicago, IL). They were an immediate hit and the demand for more Record Reversers began to grow.

TQR&R... is now producing Record Reversers on a daily basis. They are made from actual records, so each one is unique - you never know which titles will end up being on your Record Reverser. (We'd like to note that TQR&R... is whole-heartedly against destroying good records - we only use records that were rescued from being thrown away...)

  • Ive seen quite a few people i believe boogie blind showed it in 97 on on the DMC us final video or the 96 itf world finals im too lazy to check, and that guy is talkin about his vestax pdx 2000 which has a reverse button on it, and a few other turntables out there do as well.

  • of course people have been using stuff like wooden spools and empty packaging tape cores and stuff like that (i learned that myself years ago at the radio station), but i've never seen a nice, all-in-one contraption that was specifically made for record reversing...

  • yeah thats what im saying they made ones exactly like that specifically for record reversing.... if u mean for sale they didnt sell them not that i know of, but someone else still created that along time ago

  • i'll believe it when i see it!

  • I always laugh when I see this video... gr8 :)

  • You risk damaging the stylus/needle that way, unfortunately.

  • cut chemist does this with dj shadow on the most recent tour they did.

  • my turn table has a reverse buton

  • Bill Hicks' philosophy:

If you play your records backwards, you ARE Satan!

  • dude... why buy when you can D-I-Y

  • Why? My records sound perfect forwards. If I want to reverse the songs, I'll copy them to my computer, then reverse it in audacity

  • LMAO THAT IS STUPID...

  • You know, I got the same effect by twisting the drive belt on an old Dual that was just laying around.

  • its called ducktape to hold the record
