I think the shiny button is made of tombac - that was probably a farm field of some sort - if there was a paper mill nearby - they often used the dregs as fertilizer (similar to lime) - being they used rags to make paper - lots of buttons in those dregs - I have some fields near me that are similar - when they are plowed you see little white glass buttons everywhere - great finds....

Well one thing we can say about the Colonials in your area is that the cotton they used was absolute crap since all the buttons came adrift, so they obviously ran around with their clothes a-flappin' in the breeze (the women, that is). Fortunately, among all that flappin', one of them became separated from their 1663 coin at some point LOL - along comes Jim. Congratulations & HH mate.

@cmm2k5 The gold coin was pure shock value, this was more of a vindication kind of satisfaction...I knew there had to be a coin out there somewhere and that it would be amazing, just took a long time to get there.
