  • The Irish are not Celts, and it not right to attribute ancient Irish culture to that of Celtic society. The Celts didnt wipe out the Tuthan de Danann or any other tribe of ancient Ireland when they arrived during the Iron age. They didnt come to Ireland as a conquering force.THE long-held belief that Ireland’s population is descended from the Celts has been disproved by geneticists, who have concluded that they never invaded Ireland.

  • @cathbhar1 Thank you for your feedback. This video was made based on the mythology and folklore, not science.

As far as the genetics of the Irish people not being "Celtic", from what I understand, the Celts were never a race to begin with. I thought that it was widely accepted {among academics at least} that the Celts were simply a grouping of people who shared some similar cultural traits {i.e. language, art, world views}.

Anyhow, with this research, where is the modern population from?

  • Fantastique!!!! I'm French/Irish. I've ALWAYS loved St. Bridget. BUT, NEVER KNEW WHY!!!!!! She has certainly bless our household. I've 5 kids, 3 boys and 2 girls. Im a typical Irish woman.......strong and feisty and very proud. Happy St. Paddy's day to all.

  • @nefaeria Its said that the Celts were an Indo-European group, that is, related linguistically to the Greeks, the Germanic peoples, certain Italic groups and peoples of the Indian sub-continent. They arose in central Europe at the beginning of the first millennium B.C,but who knows?and thats what make ancient history so amazing.Anyway I really meant to comment on your video, which I can see a lot of work and research went into it,its very informative, educational and the music is beautiful.

  • have a blessed Imbolic and Lammas and thank you for uploading this video, dont let the negativees get to you, just follow your hear path and blessed be

  • @nefaeria The Celts were a race of people who were spread across Europe. The Romans referred to the as "The Gauls". The reason Ireland is associated with the Celts is because the Celts did migrate into Ireland where they were left undisturbed by the Romans and thus remained intact whereas the Romans conquered them pretty much everywhere else.

  • Blessed Imbolc everyone :) let the spring cleaning begin so hopeful shoots have fresh earth to grow in your home and hearts. May Brigid guard your door and light the way

  • I find it very strange how you crossed from myth as in Brigid the Goddess of old, and the Catholic flesh and blood Brigid. The name might be the same but that is where the similarities stop. Saint Brigid is the most famous female leader of the early Celtic Christian Church. Founder of many monasteries of Christian nuns, including that monastery of Kildare Ireland. If people prayed to Brigid it would have been to Saint Brigid not the Goddess Brigid. Good Vid but do not cross fact with fiction
